Bilingual lyrics, timing corrections and lyric-only videos
A translated karaoke video needs two kinds of accuracy: the primary words must follow the singing, and the companion translation must stay with the correct line. This guide uses a short original example rather than a commercial song. You can reuse or adapt the two example lines below under CC0 1.0; no third-party music or lyrics are included. Start with a recording you own, or use lyric-only playback to practice the workflow without importing any media.
1. Prepare the primary and translation lines
In the Lyrics panel, place the primary text first, then a vertical bar, then its translation. EasyKara records timing only for the primary side. Keep the translation beside its own line rather than pasting it as a separate primary row. A blank line starts a new verse and affects countdown and paging behavior. Read through the imported text before confirming it: fixing accidental verse breaks now makes the sync pass easier. The example pairs English primary text with Vietnamese translations.
Morning light returns | Ánh sáng ban mai trở lại We sing a brand new day | Ta hát ngày mới đến
2. Choose pasted text or a timed subtitle import
Paste the example for a fresh sync pass, or import your own TXT, LRC, SRT, VTT or ASS file. Timed imports keep their cue timing and enter the confirmed lyrics view; plain text remains editable. For a bilingual local SRT or VTT, use the language picker to select the primary script when offered. Importing subtitles is free. Downloading ASS, LRC or SRT from EasyKara requires Pro, which is a separate entitlement from importing those files. Save your project before replacing a large existing lyric set.
3. Record the primary words
Confirm the lyrics and select the line where you want to begin. Start Record and choose word mode. Press Space at the beginning of each sung word; the next press seals the previous word. Release the final word when it ends. In line mode, hold for a whole line instead. Escape ends the session and seals an open word. Starting again on a timed line clears timing from that point so the new pass can replace it. On a touch screen, switch to Preview and tap the preview while recording to stamp timing.
4. Correct a boundary without repeating the whole song
Play the phrase and listen for the word that begins too early or too late. Zoom the timeline with + or - and drag that word?s timed block to adjust its position. When two sealed words touch within the same line, drag their shared boundary to move the end of the first and start of the second together. Dragging a line group moves the phrase together. Ctrl+Z reverses the edit and Ctrl+Y reapplies it. Changes to word boundaries affect the primary lyric sweep, so always preview the corrected phrase rather than judging only by the waveform.
5. Display both languages and edit text carefully
In Style, choose the bilingual display option for primary, translation or both. In both mode, the translation sweep follows the primary line?s overall progress; it is not a word-by-word translation alignment. Double-click a sealed timeline block to edit its full primary line. Matched words keep their timing, while inserted words receive timed blocks that you should review. Replacing raw lyrics in the editable input resets timing, so use the timeline line editor for a small correction after syncing. Your saved project retains the translation and styling.
6. Practice or make a silent lyric video
A media track is optional. With lyrics alone, EasyKara?s playback clock lets you record and preview timing, then export a silent video whose duration follows those timestamps. This is useful for testing a translation layout or making a text-only clip before a final recording is ready. It does not synthesize a backing track or singing. If you later add audio, listen again and adjust the timings to that recording; a practice clock cannot guarantee alignment with a different performance.
7. Select the output that fits your next step
Use the free MP4 export when you want a complete rendered video with the chosen text, background and available audio. Normal video exports run at 60fps and have no watermark on either plan. Use Pro ASS/LRC/SRT downloads when another player or editing tool will render the subtitles; support for advanced styling differs by format and player. Transparent alpha video requires Pro and the desktop app. Browser codec support can affect media import or export, while the desktop app offers a native pipeline. Both versions import custom fonts, and all rendering happens on your device.
Questions about this workflow
Can I time the translation separately?
The primary line owns word timing. In both-language display, the companion translation follows the primary line?s overall sweep. EasyKara does not create word-level translation alignment.
Are the example lyrics safe to reuse?
Yes. The two original example lines and their translations in this guide are offered under CC0 1.0. This permission does not cover music, lyrics or images that you import from another source.
Do I need Pro to test this workflow?
No. Importing lyrics, recording timing, bilingual preview and watermark-free MP4 export are free. Pro is required for subtitle downloads and transparent desktop video export.
